Poetry

The thing that I’ve discovered about poetry that I really love, just from writing, and reading, and generally just being around more of it, is that it’s completely and totally honest. That’s it. Of course, it can be blunt, or harsh, or not really all that pretty, and then conversely it can be eloquent, or filled with metaphor upon metaphor, but still it’s truthful. Poetry, like most art forms, is a way for one person to explore and explain their individual realities as well as the whole of the world around them. So really, with poetry there is just no reason to be anything less than completely and totally honest; about what your thinking, or feeling, or experiencing. And that, I think, is what makes poetry such an unbelievably freeing thing.
